It’s time to take a stand part 5 by Wylie Comp of Faith Harvest Ministries

We are looking at the condition of our community, our role in it, and the position taken
by many followers of Christ and how their example should be a positive influence on our
lives as believers today.

Part 5 ~ Traditional marriage is under siege

Marriage between a man and a woman is of such importance to God, He had Moses
make special inference to it in the Book of Beginnings. “… a man will leave his father and
mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one …” (Genesis 2.24 NIV) This
has been the accepted and traditional understanding of marriage since the beginning.
Today there are those who want to change God’s standard of marriage and make this
sacred institution a sham.

Our Government has adopted the position of not even defending the statutory position
of marriage in our nation. Marriage between a man and a woman is not only God’s will in
this matter it was also the law of the land. We are talking about a heterosexual
relationship between a man and a woman within the bounds and bonds of marriage.
Some, and the “some” here are the minority of our society who don’t like God or His
standard, or the position held by more than 90-percent of the population. This minority
has the ear of the media and represents an area in the affairs of the people that can be
used by a corrupt government to make policy that is abhorrent to the majority. Again,
this is something that only happens when and if we allow it.

This minority faction is claiming equal rights under the law that would support and
endorse their perverted lifestyle. Within the constraints of our Constitution they have
the right to believe and even say anything they wish. Under that same Constitution they
do not have the right to demand that their position become accepted over the majority
will of the people, and the Federal Government has no business involving itself in these
issues. The States have a sovereign responsibility to address this issue and believers
within these States have a personal responsibility before God to stand for truth among
the people and preservation of the traditional and God ordained position of marriage.
We must remember, God is the “Designer of Marriage.” The writer of Hebrews wrote,
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, ” (Hebrews 13.4 NIV)
Christ spoke these words as recorded by Matthew, “Haven’t you read, … that at the
beginning the Creator ‘made them (the husband and the wife) male and female,’ and
said, (quoting the words written by Moses – cf. Genesis 2.24) ‘For this reason a man will
leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, (Matthew 19.4-5a NIV) and the two
will become one flesh?’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God
has joined together, let no one separate.” (Matthew 19.5b-6 NIV).

There are no permissions or provisions given or extended by God whereby nontraditional
and anti-Christ honoring marriages can be commenced outside of God’s
standard for marriage.
