“Ordered Steps” part 1 by Wylie Comp with Faith Harvest Ministries

                                                 Part One
We are all sojourners on the earth as we await the Day of the Lord. How we
wait and what we do during the ensuing process of time is underscored by the
Lord’s own words as recorded for us in Luke’s Gospel. In His parable about
the ten minas, Jesus said, “ ‘…put this money to work,’(i.e. occupy; be about the
business at hand), ‘until I come back.’”Luke 19.12 NIV
This means that God has more than a passing interest in us and that He has
provided the purpose and the way for us to be and do what He has ordered
for our lives, even before we  were born. The Prophet Jeremiah, in writing to
the people of Judah during the seventh century B.C., expressed God’s
position as it related to his life then, and to our lives today. Jeremiah wrote,
“The word of the Lord came to me, saying,‘Before I formed you in the womb
I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you
as a prophet to the nations.’”
Jeremiah 1.5 NIV
Jeremiah’s steps were actually ordered before he was even conceived in
his mother’s womb. This certainly lends new credibility to the understanding
of just how omniscient God actually is. Looking back, from Jeremiah’s day,
we can also see the impact God had on the life of David. He was learning to
trust in the Lord and God used him to communicate His position toward
the affairs of man. David, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the man who delights in him; though he
may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
Psalm 37.23-24 NIV
In these verses the Hebrew word for man is gebër, and means a certain
or individual man. Not a “special person” but a man or woman who knows
God and wants His will for and in their life. When contemplating the major
event of August 6, 2012, my thoughts are quickly drawn to God’s personal
involvement in the steps associated with my life, preceding, immediately
following the event, and even today. God’s Word is direct and specific when
it comes to the ordering of a person’s steps.
God’s ordered steps for my life have not always been easy or without stress. It
was around 5:00 a.m. on the 6th of August, when an elephant slipped into my
room, put a rock on my chest and proceeded to sit on it. I experienced all the
negative effects of a heart attack and awoke in a Hospital suffering with
congestive heart failure and angioplasty and a metal stint in my left arterial
arteries. Definitely not the way I had planned to begin my work-week.
Something I have probably said many times before but, “this” gave me cause
to pause.
