Number 9 “The Sixth Day of the Handiwork of God, Part III,” by Evangelist Sam Biggers

Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7 NASB
During the sixth day of creation, God made an amazing decision in which we can behold the liberal nature and character of God. He was not conservative or limited in His plan for man who He created like the potter molds clay into a unique container useful for a specific purpose. He desired a living being, one who would interact and converse with Him. God decided to share His decisive power and freedom with man.

This is an incredible and astonishing act, a momentous decision. God, in His wisdom, saw the potential of a living being called man. He generously gave man rights to make his own choice on how he will live life. He placed his faith in man to make wise decisions and live for Him.

The creation of man was different from all other creation. God picked up dust which He had created, and from it molded our complex bodies. The body is a useless shell until God brings it alive with his “breath of life.” He breathed into man and created a soul and spirit – an eternal being. God then set man free to live an abundant life when obedient and committed to our Creator. When He removes his life-giving breath, our bodies once again return to dust. We are eternal beings and God’s eternal plan is for man to honor, converse with and worship Him.

God did not withhold His hand in the creation of man but a most intimate moment occurred when the Creator bowed to earth and breathed into the nostrils of a lifeless man the breath of life. He literally took man, molded with His own hands, and with His own breath pushed oxygen into the lungs of this molded piece of clay and created a living, eternal being. He made man a unity: acting, thinking and feeling with his whole being. God breathed into man with a personal, face-to-face intimacy of a kiss signifying this act of creation was self-giving a part of Himself to man.
We discover God’s extraordinary reason for creating man is to have a personal relationship with Him and others and commune daily with Him. He has blessed man and given us specific instructions on how to live, rule, subdue and enjoy the reminder of His created kingdom.

We must recognize our value and worth comes from God Almighty, who chose to give us the mysterious and miraculous gift of life. He created us in His likeness and image to cherish life, honor, serve and worship Him.
