“I’ve Been Thinking,” by Pastor Wilma Sheffer

If you spend much time surfing Facebook lately, you have noticed a great number of posts concerning the predictions of coming disasters by mid-September. It causes great concern to see potential calamities, money markets crashes, global disasters, and military threats to put millions of Americans into internment camps. On the other hand there are all the politics building steam in 2015, a year and half ahead of the 2016 election. There are many Christians who are pro-actively using Facebook to share messages of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Just checking your daily posts can consume a good percentage of your day. Whether it is a wise decision to be a consummate Facebook user or not, I am not prepared to judge, but I have been thinking, in light of Scripture, that we are probably wasting a great deal of our precious time if we don’t concentrate our messages based on Biblical standards.
How should we judge these people whom we have never met, in all likelihood will never meet, and would not want to meet even if we could. I’m talking about specific persons who cannot write a brief statement without using profanity or vulgar language. I very much want to “sow the Word of God” into their lives. In fact, it is the only hope that I have for them. I Corinthians 5: 12-13 says to the Christian believer: “What business of mine is it and what right have I to judge outsiders? Is it not those inside the church upon whom you are to pass disciplinary judgment (passing censuring sentence on them as the facts require)? God alone sits in judgment on those who are outside. Drive out that wicked one from among you (expel him from your church).” Amplified Bible
We see the responsibility of our Christian witness to the world, but we must leave the Work of the Holy Spirit of God to convict the sinner and complete the supreme work of salvation in him/ her as He promises to do.
I’ve been thinking of several actions that I must take: first, stop judging the wicked. I can hardly bear the iniquity pictured in the posts that I see on a daily basis. And as the Word tells us, sin is contagious, but Holiness is not contagious. So unless I want to “catch a bad case” of negativity and ugly thought processes, I really don’t need to spend so much time scrolling through Facebook for hours at a time. Secondly, I can be a judge of those who are professing Christians and who need exhortation to come up higher or come out from among them! Paul did not hedge his correction to the Church of Corinth, because it was the only way to pull the person(s) out of the fire of hell that was being kindled within the church. No less do we see the same things happening today in many congregations in America.
It is the time to pray, not play! It is the time to fast, not feast! It is time for faith to arise as never before in our lifetime, not a time to cringe in fear of satanic forces.
Arise and shine, for His Light always shines brightly! Never doubt that Jesus Christ conquered the grave, rose again, and sits at the Right Hand of God as the Authority over ALL! May the Lord Jesus direct our every thought and action, and receive all the Glory that we, as His bond servants, may do in His Name! Amen
