I Need Thee (Christ) Every Hour By Evangelist Sam Biggers

God didn’t promise us a bed of rose petals, rather because of sin, the ground was cursed and “thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee” and “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return”  (Genesis 3:18-19) – all because of disobedience to God bringing spiritual heart disease.

Life is not always delightful and at times is more often tough and difficult than easy.  Often I just want to slip away, hide and hope to find a place in God where there is peace and love that only He can give – far from the noise of the world of humanity.  Fallen humanity suffers because of original sin and disobedience to the word and will of God.  Much of our pain is of our own making – we create the bed of thorns and thistles in which we often find ourselves.  These are not a pleasant thoughts, rather, they are humbling, encouraging us to lift our eyes upward to seek forgiveness, receive peace of mind and the joy that God loves us no matter whatever state we find ourselves.

This does not mean He lets us “off the hook” to do our own thing – rather, He is holding us accountable for how we live our daily lives.  I don’t know about you but I find it is impossible to live up to His standard without His personal intervention into my life –  and then I still fail because of my heart – seemingly always filled with disease that needs His touch to cleanse and heal.  Often I feel as if my heart needs to be on His surgery table most of the time.  I can’t heal myself, only Christ can change my heart.  So I need Him every hour…

Psalm 143:1 “Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
Lyrics  Based on Psalm 143:1

I need thee every hour
Most gracious Lord
No tender voice like thine
Can peace afford

I need thee oh I need thee
Every hour I need thee
Oh bless me now my savior
I come to thee

I need thee every hour
Stay thou near by
Temptations loose their power
When thou art nigh

I need thee oh I need thee
Every hour I need thee
Oh bless me now my savior
I come to thee

I need thee every hour
Most holy one
Oh make me thine indeed
Thou blessed son

I need thee oh I need thee
Every hour I need thee
Oh bless me now my savior
I come to thee

Oh I need thee

I need thee

Oh bless me now my savior

I come to thee
