Faithful Witness by Evangelist Sam Biggers

In an earlier writing, I made this statement: The only way to have love for people is to get up and go to where they are in life and reach out to them with the simplicity of the Great News of Jesus Christ.  This is the burden and cry of my heart and has become the focus of my life – to the marketplace of humanity.  I pray all believers will catch this vision of humanity and willingly walk with confidence that God will give them the right words to share Christ in the marketplace.

The great Apostle Paul, a great soul winner and who established many churches, wrote to the church at Corinth:

“Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that “we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.  Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much.  But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.”

“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal...  If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.  And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.”   Found in Paul’s writing about love in I Corinthians 13.

But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and striving about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.”  Paul writing to Titus in Titus 3:9.

Therefore, we must be about our master’s business with our physical and spiritual ears to hear and eyes open to see the lost, the hurting and wounded people we come face to face with on a daily basis.  We are to love them, speak kindness to them and physically show them the love of Jesus through a word of encouragement, a word of comfort, a hug when needed and from our own pocket, if God directs us, to make every attempt to meet their need; whether it be physical or financial.  We are to spend time with them, love on them and fellowship with them in their weakness.  This should be our mindset, our calling and the path upon which we walk with Christ with a heart of meekness and a gentle spirit of love.

Possibly you may be like me.  I have wrestled with God that I do not have the skills in certain arenas to be a faithful witness.  However, He has directed me to set my face toward those who are lost and without hope unless someone intervenes by prayer, action and word to share the Great News of Jesus Christ to them.  Jesus ‘ command to His disciples was “follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”  He did not state: “Follow me and I will give you intellect to debate with the Pharisees and Sadducees.”  His message was simple, plain and to the point: “Repent and follow Me and I will make you disciples – fishers of men.”

Paul stated: Follow me as I follow Christ – to this end we should devote our life.  We must be obedient to the Master’s call to travel this path in life.  Please let us pray for one another as we reach out to those who need Christ desperately.
