Facing A Big Challenge by Pastor Sheliah Artt

Perhaps you are facing one of the biggest challenges of your life, and you are wondering, as many do, “Why me?”
Let me ask you this, “Why not?”
Jesus told us that… “In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). There it is! Why would you be excluded? It’s not “something you did wrong so that you deserve to suffer!” It’s not something the “enemy did to you because he’s so concerned about you!” No! While you are living in this world, you will have challenges, trials and even tribulations! Everyone does! It comes with the curse on the earth when Adam and Eve were dispelled from the Garden.
The early apostles clearly came to understand, as Paul wrote, “For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him” (Phil.1:29). And Peter discussed suffering in depth in his first letter. He emphasizes that you will suffer – even for doing good – but “when you endure it patiently,God is pleased with you.” (1Peter
And Paul wrote to encourage Timothy, “Because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained. So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen. And His Word is true: If we suffer with Him, we shall also reign with Him” (2 Tim.2:9-12).
So, we can be of good cheer! “For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison” (2Cor.4:17). ~ Shelia Hart Artt
“Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad-for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. Be happy when you are insulted for being a Christian, for then the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you.” (1Peter 4:12-14)
