Dear. Mr. Padgett;

We appreciate the time and update about my alma mater North. You and your staff made a special effort both at the football game on Friday and at the school Saturday to show and explain many aspects of change at North.  I felt as if I had received a history of the North High Community, an update on the cultural transition and a sports update since graduating and leaving the Wichita area in 1972.

You are definitely the right leader for the 2,000+ students at North. I believe your attitude is practical, sensible and compassionate for the students at any level of need or care. You demonstrated to me during the tailgate party and during the football game a real appreciation for the divert ethic groups. North has changed from a predominately White ethic school during my years, to an exciting multi-cultural school including Hispanics, Asians, Blacks and Whites.  This I know is especially difficult for a White man.

I was impressed that you followed through with answers to many of the changes which have transpired at North. Opening the school up to such sporting activities as soccer, teaching language diversity classes and promoting muti-cultural social activity connects families with North. Moreover, the college advanced courses helping students enter college at higher levels at a lower cost basis is definitely something that meets the needs of the North High School Community.

Finally, when we toured North we witnessed staff that truly exemplified your leadership mission and vision for North. We sincerely thank you for your time and your fine stewardship of North. You are making a difference. I remain,

Sincerely Yours,

Dr. James R. Wining, Bishop/President
